He has visited courthouses in several southern states and has conducted extensive research in Texas and Louisiana. A genealogical researcher since 1985, John’s favorite area of research is in the courthouse. Sellers, a fifth generation native to Hopkins County, Texas, graduated from Texas Tech University, with a degree in advertising/public relations, and received his teaching certificate in history from Texas A & M, Commerce. He will also reference some of the most useful sources that we have at Clayton in book form. He will identify courthouse resources that can be accessed on the FamilySearch site through the Clayton Library and its connection as a FamilySearch Affiliate Library. John Sellers will give an overview of courthouse research with an emphasis on resources available at the Clayton Library.
